FlexiTable™ is a table generator for MicroStation. At its simplest, it creates a schedule table:
it takes source data
from, say, an Excel™ spreadsheet or a CSV text file and converts it to MicroStation graphics.
You start using FlexiTable™ in a MicroStation session with the keyin mdl load FlexiTable.
If you want to use FlexiTable™ every time you start MicroStation, you can specify is as an MS_DGNAPPS
in your configuration file.
FlexiTable™ has tools that let you …
FlexiTable™ constructs a new table from your data. If the user preference to replace an existing table automatically is on, then FlexiTable updates the graphics with no further action required. If that preference is not on, then FlexiTable prompts you to place the graphic table.
FlexiTable builds the table from a number of nested cells. There is more information on the table structure.
FlexiTable™ constructs a new pie chart from your data. If the user preference to replace an existing chart automatically is on, then FlexiTable updates the graphics with no further action required. If that preference is not on, then FlexiTable prompts you to place the graphic chart.
FlexiTable™ constructs a new bar chart from your data. If the user preference to replace an existing chart automatically is on, then FlexiTable updates the graphics with no further action required. If that preference is not on, then FlexiTable prompts you to place the graphic chart.
The table editor tool prompts you to select a FlexiTable in your DGN model, then displays the data in the FlexiTable Editor dialog.
Alternatively, you can simply double-click the table in your DGN model.
The cell editor works in the same way as the table editor tool, but sets the focus in the FlexiTable Editor dialog to the cell corresponding to your selection.
The screen-shot below shows the result of selecting some text within the table using this tool.
If you double-click the table, you can't select an individual cell.
This tool opens the FlexiTable Editor with no data loaded initially. Use the File|Open menu of this dialog to open a data source.
The data source may be a CSV or XML file, an Excel™ spreadsheet, or a tag set in the
current MicroStation™ design file.
You may need to adjust the settings file to work correctly with your data source.
For example, a CSV or XML file requires little more than the file specification,
whereas an Excel spreadsheet requires you to specify the worksheet name and cell range of interest.
The table Settings Editor dialog displays various FlexiTable settings in multiple tabbed regions. You can also open the Settings Editor dialog from the Settings menu of the FlexiTable Editor dialog.
